Bishops Castle

Foxholes Campsite is a 10 minute walk from Bishops Castle a creative town with a busy annual calendar of events, festivals and general fun!

Bishops Castle is a quirky town with a beautiful selection of independent curiosities, such as Happy Bap, The Yarbrough House and Simpsons as well as the necessary’s such as Co-op, Pharmacy and fuel station.

As well as all the above Bishop’s Castle boasts 6 Pubs and two home-breweries, the Six Bells and the Three Tuns. The annual Real Ale Festival celebrates breweries from Shropshire, and around the country, with live music and outside bars. Be aware we book up early for this weekend.

Be sure to visit the Castle Hotel beer garden on a hot day and take in the roof top views of the town. If it really hot, take a dip in the local Swimming pool, SpArC.

Clun

Clun is a 10-minute drive past Colesty Wood with its foot paths and mountain trails. Or can be walk to through beautiful farm and woodland. Clun and it’s surrounding villages are famous in the work of A E Houseman. Clun has a stunning ruined castle that hosts the annual Green Man Festival on the first May Bank holiday.

Acton Scott – Stokesay – Ludlow

The Shopshire/Wales border is a rich historical landscape peppered with Castles and museums. Over the Long Mynd which can be viewed from the campsite is Acton Scott the historic working Farm where Victorian Farm was filmed.

Travelling along the A49 you will come to The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre at Craven Arms, following on is Stokesay Castle.

Continuing along is the small town of Ludlow with a big reputation for excellent dining. Hosted in the grounds of the Castle is the annual Ludlow Food Festival.

Wales

Foxholes Campsite is within minutes of the welsh border of Powys and in prime positioning for visiting Welshpool’s’ Powys Castle and its beautiful Gardens.

10 minutes’ drive into Wales is Churchstoke, which houses a large Co-op and a weekly Sunday Market. From here you can carry on to Montgomery with its own Castle and beautiful independent shops and cafes.

Wales has a beautiful coastline which can be accessed within an hour and a half of the Campsite.
